The UK has a diverse population so it stands to reason that businesses with a diverse workforce are likely to attract a wider customer base; have the ability to recognise new potential markets and provide a better more tailored service to meet individual needs.
By aiming to employ people with disabilities, more women into male dominated roles (e.g. trades), more men into female dominated roles (e.g. care), gay men and lesbians, older people and encouraging a wider ethnic mix, companies will have a workforce that is able to identify more closely with its customer base and draw from a broader range of perspectives.
